Lieutenant Frederic Vyvyan Coupland - Smith

Born in Hove,Sussex in 1897.
He was the only child of Frederic Geoffrey Coupland-Smith
(he died on 12-03-1924) and his wife Ida Mary
(nee Ruffell(married 1895),she died on 27-12-1950.
In the 1911 census the family home was
Highcross House,Sampford Peverell,Tiverton,Devon.
He was educated at Blundell's School in Tiverton between
1909 & 1913.
In 1913 he accompanied his parents on a visit to the
Holy Land and Egypt.
On the outbreak of war,he joined up and served in the ranks before obtaining a commision as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 54th Brigade Royal Field Artillery(RFA).
His dis-embarkation into Egypt was in 07/1915.
He was later posted to the 173rd Brigade RFA and promoted to Lieutenant on 02-07-1917 but by this time he had already been killed in action on 07-06-1917.*
