Born in London in 1885.
His parents were Thomas Dunn(born in 1842) and
Harriet Allen(1858-1910). They married in 1883.
William had 4 brothers; Thomas Walter Alan
(born in 1884),
Patrick James(born on 05/09/1890),Fred(born in 1893) and Arthur Paul (1896-1966).
He also had a sister, Caroline Margaret(born in 1888).
In the 1891 census,the family are recorded as living at
23 Tintern Street, Lambeth,London. Thomas was employed as a steward to a gentleman.
In the 1901 census,the family had moved to 19 Rommany Road,Lambeth, London>Thomas wasn't included on this census record, but William was now working as a
drapers porter.
In the 1911 census the family had moved again,this time to 37 Dassett Road,West Norwood, Lambeth,London. Thomas was employed as a night watchman at a bank and William was a railway porter at a goods depot.
He enlisted in London and his date of disembarkation into France was on 01/10/1915.
He was killed in action on 01/07/1916.
He was awarded the 1914-1915 Star,the 1914-1918 British War and Allied Victory medals.
